La Boda

I got to go on my first airplane ride for a very exciting event. May 17th two of Kelly's best friends were married in Cambria. I helped to set up the decorations for what turned out to be a perfect wedding. The ocean breezes didn't pick up until the afternoon, when the California sunshine would have become overbearing. A short and sweet ceremony accompanied by live music - then Kyle and Heather became Mr. and Mrs. Millenaar. Having a potluck reception was genius. There was plenty of food to go around, including a mountain of rolls. After the food everyone relaxed in the park talking and playing frisbee.
The day after the wedding we headed off to hot and heady Paso Robles to go wine tasting with Chris and Dave and Mandy. On the way we had a flat tire, but I scrambled out and fixed it while the girls waited in the car (so they wouldn't get their paws dirty). My favorite winery was Castoro Cellars because they served chocolate with the wine, but we also went to Bianchi, EOS, and Summerwood. Since it was Mother's Day most of the wineries had something going on - including live music. We crawled back on the red-eye to Seattle sunburned, sleepy and ready for the cooler weather of Washington state.

Snowy Seattle

When I finally got out to stretch my legs in Kent, WA everything was white. A thin layer of snow and ice covered everything, causing me to shiver a bit with my bare paws. We looked pretty silly pulling into the hotel parking lot with a 7'11" surfboard strapped to the back of the truck. I scurried inside Kelly's temporary suite and ate some popcorn while she looked for apartments and got ready for her first day at Boeing.

California Here I Come

So I left Arizona for the Golden State - and found myself in the heart of it. I spent my time in the truck, going from surf-spot to surf-spot watching the "beautiful people" of Los Angeles County. The best parts of my California experience were the San Diego beaches and jumping unexpectedly on Kelly's friend Matt - the worst part was trying to breathe the smog. My foray into the land of the stars was short-lived however because after a couple months I found myself being packed in with all of Kelly's belongings as she left for the clean air and evergreens of Washington State. We fought through truck-shaking sandstorms on the 14 hour journey to the Northern California border, where we paused for a couple days at her parents' house in Crescent City.
